Fun with friends!

Here are some pics from a lake trip we took a few weeks back. The pictures are a little blurry because they are taken with a camera phone. I can't write much because I am eyeballs deep in a school budget project for one of my classes. Anybody want to help/do it for me??? One more week and I will be done with being a student for a bit but back to being a teacher. Summer is quickly winding down!

Enjoying a boat ride before dinner!

Gonzo's first time on the boat. He loved it! (Marley went to stay with her grandparents, Momma Susie and G.Daddy, for this trip. She was probably ecstatic to have a break from The Gonz!)

Stewart and the pretty sky (Jessica - we missed you!)

Smiles all around! Even from Gonzo :)

Best buddies!

Ryan concentrating on his driving...such a great captain!

Awww...how cute!

Happy Hump Day y'all!

Kat

Summer Suggestions

Here are a few things you should try out this summer...

Ryan and I went to see this movie on Saturday...it was hilarious! If you are in the mood to laugh then you need to head towards the theater and buy tickets for this movie. I was worried that all of the funny parts were shown in the trailer, but this was not the case, it was full of lots of funny surprises. I also loved Jennifer Aniston in this one. I actually love her in anything, but she was especially funny in this one. (What was Brad thinking??????? That will always be an unsolved mystery to me.) Anyway, go see this movie, you will be glad you did!

This sauce is amazing!!!! Our friend, Garrick, is staying with us for the month of July while he completes a rotation for med school in our neck of the woods, and he introduced us to this little gem last night. We grilled some ribs and coated them in this heavenly sauce...they were delicious! I could probably eat this sauce like ice cream. Pretty gross, huh? Sorry- it is just that good! If you see it on your next visit to the grocery store pick up a bottle or two (or a lifetime supply!)

This is the first book of the Hunger Games trilogy. I have only read the first one, but I am hooked. If I wasn't taking classes I would have already finished all three, but I must hold off in order to concentrate on the important things(booooooo). I made Ryan read it and he loved it too...so it is not just for the women folk. There is a movie coming out sometime in March of 2012 (I think?). I'm so excited. Read it, read it, read it! I was hesitant to read it at first glance, but it turned out to be very well written and action packed! If you are looking for a book, here you go...you are welcome!

On a sad note, summer break is almost over. WHAT??? How did this happen??? I need time to slow waaaaaaaaaaaay down right now!

On a happy note, Ryan and I are planning a farewell to summer trip for the first part of August. It involves seeing some really cool people along the way...more to come soon!

Kat

Hot Child in the City!

Summer is in full effect around here! It could not be any hotter in the capital city. I can hardly breathe when I walk outside. The blistering heat is just insane! Being outside without a body of water within walking distance is a death wish. So lately, as soon as Ryan gets out of the office on Friday we get the heck outta dodge and head to the lake. We spent our 4th of July there with the family and took some friends down there last weekend. It has been nice to have a place to escape! Here are some pictures from America's birthday...

Addison celebrated her 5th birthday on July 2nd. I can't believe she is that old!!!

This weekend we will be staying put. We have tons of things to do around the house so we have to be grown ups and get it done. I hope everyone is enjoying their summer. Stay cool!

Kat

Nacho Average Party

Ryan and I are at the age where all of our friends are getting married. This is great because 1) we will have more married couples to hang out with and 2) we get to help them celebrate. Due to these frequent celebrations we like to keep our party pants ironed and ready to go at all times!

A few weekends ago, we hosted a party for our friends Caren and Austin at my parent's cabin. They are getting married in August so their big day is quickly approaching! When we were planning the party we wanted to do something a little different than what we have typically done in the past. Ryan came up with the idea for a Fiesta. We went with that theme, and I think it turned out to be a great time! We had a taco bar from Moe's, Mexican beer, and of course Tequila!

The invites - one of my most favorite parts!

We had a pinata (of course!) filled with a "Marriage Survival Kit" - fake money, mini bottles of liquor, condoms, fake birth control & Viagra, etc.

The tables had little cactus looking plants and margarita glasses with floating candles.

This drink station had Margaritas, Sangria, and Goombay Smash.

The happy couple in the Fiesta attire I forced them to wear for one picture!

The ladies (some of them)

Caren opening their gift, and Austin hoping it is something he can use. (Ryan can attest to the fact that it usually is not!)

See, it's not! Sorry, bud. Oh well...he still looks pretty happy about it!

Caren, the slugger. She knocked this thing down on the first swing. Austin, watch your back!

Loving their prizes!

Two of my most favorite people in the same picture...just had to throw this in!

A good time was had by all!

We can't wait until the wedding! I have a feeling the dance floor will be hot at this one.

XOXO,

Kat
