Fall or Bust!

I am so ready for fall I can't even stand it! It is my favorite season, and it is long overdue. Here are 10 reasons that I am ready for it to get here already!

#1. I'm ready to see all the pretty colors of the leaves...even though I will be constantly raking them off of my new sod!
# 2. Mrs. Susie's Pumpkin Roll. I'm drooling just thinking about it!

#3. All the cute kids in their Halloween costumes. Hope we have lots of Trick-or-Treaters! Growing up in the sticks we never had any...so sad. Wonder what Addie and Charley will be?

#4. Thanksgiving Dinner - only the best meal of the whole year :)

#5. Pumpkins decorating front porches. Can't wait to get mine!

#6. Corn dogs, elephant ears, candy apples - YES PLEASE!

#7. Dexter - Season 5....A favorite in this house!

#8. GAME....COCKS! Football season is one week away!

#9. I love boots! Can't wait to pull mine back out. Hoping to get some new ones. Shhh...don't tell Ryan! :)

#10. Candy corn - a guilty pleasure. I saw almost an entire aisle of this stuff at Walgreen's.
Dear Fall,
Please hurry. I can't take it anymore!
Love,
Kat

Green, Green Grass!

We had another successful Saturday! We decided to tackle the huge task of putting down sod in the backyard. My parents came to give us a hand...I really owe those two! We bought two pallets of sod and just about got the entire backyard covered. We only need a little bit more to complete the job.

This was my first time putting down sod. It sure was tough stuff! Ryan worked for a landscape company back in the day so he was an old pro! I let him do most of the work while I supervised.

I absolutely love the finished product! It makes the backyard look a million times better. Hopefully, we can keep it alive. We have already worked out our watering schedule. Are we losers?? I never thought I would get this excited about some grass!

Here are some pictures from the day...

Miss Marley loves the grass!

Next job....fixing the molding that Gonzo chewed up in the house. This should be fun!
Hope everyone has a great week! Gotta go watch my grass grow :)

Walking Down Memory Lane...

Ryan and I helped move Mary, his sister, into her first apartment on Saturday. We got her all settled in and ready to start her 2nd year at USC. She is actually living in the same apartment complex and the exact same building I lived in my freshman year. Ahhh....took me back! I decided to post some photo flashbacks from those fancy-free college days! Don't laugh...

X-mas break...3/4 of the circle. Where is my Courtney?

Miss those times with friends! Wouldn't trade being an old married lady for anything in the world though! :)
Reality check... getting ready for Day 2 of school. My 19 5th graders are counting on me to teach and entertain them! :)

You've Been Iced!

Garrick was in town this weekend so we decided to have a little cookout last night. We fired up the grill and got down to business. We made ranch burgers which are heavenly! There are many different variations to the ranch burger recipe. I usually add a packet of ranch dressing mix, an egg, and some Worcestershire sauce to my ground beef. Really easy and really good! I meant to take a picture of the finished product but once Stewart "iced" Ryan and Garrick I forgot! Here is the gist of being iced...

"Icing" or "getting iced" is a drinking game that's rapidly gaining popularity amongst office workers, tech and media types, and college students. The rules are simple: If a person sees a Smirnoff Ice, he or she must get down on one knee and chug it, unless they happen to be carrying their own Smirnoff, in which case they can "ice block," or refract the punishment back onto the attacker.

Pretty silly but somewhat hilarious to watch! Stewart you better watch your back! :)

Ryan didn't want to take any pictures - this is me unsuccessfully trying to get him to take a picture with me

Fire up that grill, baby!

Ryan is feeling yucky today. Some kinda stomach bug has bit him! I'm busy playing Nurse White and enjoying the last few seconds of summer! I think I hear my patient waking up from his nap...

Back to the Grind

It's about that time again! School starts in one week for me. The kids have two more weeks of freedom left. I guess I will have to kiss the luxuries of summer goodbye! I'm actually pretty excited to get back in the swing of things. I went shopping for some new items for my classroom so that got me pretty pumped up. I love school supplies. I don't know why? They make me happy. I'm going to head to Jackson (it's weird typing Jackson instead of Doby's) everyday this week to get my new classroom fixed up. Can't wait until Thursday...my mom is coming to help me with the room. Making things pretty is her speciality! Tonight I am setting my alarm clock for 5:00 AM so I can get back in the routine of getting up early. Let's see if I actually get my butt out of bed!

Want to give a birthday shout out to the Boland Babies!!! They were born today. Happy Birthday to Rosalyn Reese, Louise Grace and Charles Spencer Boland! Can't wait to meet y'all. Big congrats to Ben and Lucy!

Also want to give a shout out to Austin McMillan. He moved to D.C. today to start his new job with the McDonald's Corporation. Hope the move went well! We will miss you back in South Kakalaki!
